Acne, excessive hair growth and weight gain are other symptoms of having PCOS, but it isn’t necessary that one would show all the signs. There could be high levels of sex hormones in a female’s body because of it which could lead to infertility.

5 Overactive thyroid as well as underactive thyroid could be a reason why a woman is suffering from menstrual irregularities. Hormones produced by thyroid glands are necessary for maintaining metabolism and thus, if these hormones are not released it could affect the menstrual cycle.

6 Drinking a lot of alcohol leads to infertility and irregular cycles. Alcohol has certain toxins in it which can cause permanent tissue damage and upset the sensitive hormonal balance which maintains the menstrual cycles.

7 It is harmful for both men and women, when it comes to reproduction. Smoking could alter levels of estrogen, progesterone, testosterone and other hormones. Women who smoke also suffer from more premenstrual symptoms and are less likely to conceive.

8. Poor Diet

8 Your diet should be rich in nutrients, antioxidants and probiotic foods. If you are having irregular cycles, you should think of correcting your lifestyle. It can also lead to thyroid problems. Have proper intake of fiber and proteins. Along with it, binge eating is also not good for women.

9. Exposure To Pesticides

9 Pesticides can block the hormones in your body and thus your endocrine system won’t work that well. Women exposed to active pesticides had increased chances of experiencing long cycles, missed periods and inter-menstrual bleeding. Females who work near organic solvents may suffer from reproductive challenges.

10. Shift Work

10 If your schedules fluctuates a lot, chances are your body is getting affected by it. According to research nurses who worked around the clock are more likely to suffer from irregular menstrual cycles.
